Falcon Ridge Golf Club opened all 18 holes in late 2004 to an onslaught of eager golfers. The
Kelby Hughes designed 6800 yard spectacular layout offers two contrasting nines with an emphasis on shot placement over sheer length. Many holes
do not require a hefty driver off the tee, yet a well placed, smart shot to a specific landing pad to set up a good approach shot.
Once on the green, players are in for a putting treat with some of the best
rolling greens in Mesquite, Nevada. |

The outward nine begins with a
warming and reachable par 5. Lookout for the white-sand bunkers down the
left side this opening hole, and pay attention to yardage on the approach,
the greenside bunkers will snatch up any errant or off target shot.
The second hole is a wonderful par 3 with the green tucked up into a spectacular red-rock cove. The tee shot is all carry over a beautiful blue lake and is perhaps one of the front nine highlights.
Arguably, signature hole of this side comes at the par 4, 6th. On the tee golfers face a knee-knocking downhill shot with
a massive, hang-time elevation drop. While the this is a very tough fairway to hit,
compounded with a water hazard to the right the hole is short and is a
possible scoring opportunity. The outward holes give you a nice warm up for what is in store from the back nine.
On the Par 5, 10th tee many players collectively shake-in-their-boots at
the daunting task ahead. The tee shot is another breathtaking
intimidator with a menacing shot over large lake and winding river, to a small landing area. A split fairway will tempt longer hitters to drill one up the left side to for a possible chance to reach the green in two. The approach shot is no easy feat from either fairway, an uphill carry with a spectacular cascading waterfall and lake short, right of the green. Hopefully you can escape this hole without a big number.
The next highlight of the inward holes comes at the Par 5, 12th. Again, another insane tee shot with a small landing area about 200 feet below, except on this one you have bunkers and water in play to the left side. This hole is almost impossible to reach in two, the approach shot is guarded by an large lake that runs the length of the hole to a slight dog-leg right, tucked-in heart shaped green. Most players lay-up to about 150 out and take their chances with a short iron.
The back nine continues with challenging and interesting golf holes, the course has attracted many players because of its style and variety of shots. Check out our "Photo Tour" of Falcon Ridge Golf Club and book your
